JUMP STARTING PROCEDURE
WARNING: REVIEW ALL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
AND WARNINGS IN GROUP 8A,
BATTERY/STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS DIAG-
NOSTICS.
DO NOT JUMP START A FROZEN BATTERY, PER-
SONAL INJURY CAN RESULT.
DO NOT JUMP START WHEN BATTERY INDICATOR
DOT IS YELLOW OR BRIGHT COLOR.
DO NOT ALLOW JUMPER CABLE CLAMPS TO
TOUCH EACH OTHER WHEN CONNECTED TO A
BOOSTER SOURCE.
DO NOT USE OPEN FLAME NEAR BATTERY.
REMOVE METALLIC JEWELRY WORN ON HANDS
OR WRISTS TO AVOID INJURY BY ACCIDENTAL
ARCHING OF BATTERY CURRENT.
WARNING: WHEN USING A HIGH OUTPUT BOOST-
ING DEVICE, DO NOT ALLOW DISABLED VEHICLE’S
BATTERY TO EXCEED 16 VOLTS. PERSONAL INJURY
OR DAMAGE TO ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CAN RE-
SULT.
CAUTION: When using another vehicle as a booster,
do not allow vehicles to touch. Electrical systems can
be damaged on either vehicle.
TO JUMP START A DISABLED VEHICLE:

CAUTION: If the cause of starting problem on dis-
abled vehicle is severe, damage to booster vehicle
charging system can result.
(2) Wh en usin g a n ot h er veh icle a s a boost er sou r ce,
turn off a ll accessor ies, pla ce gea r selector in pa r k or
neutral, set par k brake or equ iva len t a n d oper a t e
en gin e a t 1200 r pm .
(3) On disa bled vehicle, pla ce gea r select or in pa r k or
neutral a n d set pa r k br a ke or equ iva len t . Tur n OF F a ll
accessor ies (Keyless E n t r y an d Ult r a ligh t system s
must be t u r n ed OF F m a n u a lly).
(4) Con n ect jum per cables t o boost er bat t ery. RE D
