TOWING RECOMMENDATIONS
RECOM M EN DED T OWI N G EQU I PM EN T

recommended. Wh en u sin g a wheel lift t owin g device,
be su r e t h e unlift ed en d of disabled veh icle h a s a t lea st
100 m m (4 in .) gr ou n d clea r a n ce. If m in im u m gr ou n d
clea r a n ce ca n n ot be rea ch ed, use a t owin g dolly. If a fla t
bed device is u sed, t h e a ppr oa ch a n gle sh ou ld n ot
exceed 15 degr ees.
GROU N D CLEARAN CE
CAUTION: If vehicle is towed with wheels removed,
install lug nuts to retain brake drums or rotors.

are a m in im u m 100 mm (4 in) from t h e gr ou n d. Be sure
there is a dequ a t e gr ou n d clea rance a t t h e opposit e en d
of t h e veh icle, especia lly wh en t owin g over r ou gh
terrain or steep r ises in th e roa d. If n ecessary, r em ove
the wh eels from t h e lift ed en d of t h e veh icle a n d lower
the vehicle closer to th e gr ou n d, to increa se t h e gr ou n d
clea r a n ce a t t h e opposit e en d of th e veh icle. In st a ll lu g

hauler.

towed a t speeds n ot t o exceed 40 k m /h (25 mph ) for n ot

WARNING: DO NOT ALLOW TOWING ATTACHMENT
DEVICES TO CONTACT THE FUEL TANK OR LINES,
FUEL LEAK CAN RESULT.
DO NOT LIFT OR TOW VEHICLE BY FRONT OR
REAR BUMPER, OR BUMPER ENERGY ABSORBER
UNITS.
DO NOT VENTURE UNDER A LIFTED VEHICLE IF
NOT SUPPORTED PROPERLY ON SAFETY STANDS.
DO NOT ALLOW PASSENGERS TO RIDE IN A
TOWED VEHICLE.
USE A SAFETY CHAIN THAT IS INDEPENDENT
FROM THE TOWING ATTACHMENT DEVICE.
CAUTION: Do not damage brake lines, exhaust sys-
tem, shock absorbers, sway bars, or any other under
vehicle components when attaching towing device to
vehicle.
Remove or secure loose or protruding objects from
a damaged vehicle before towing.
