The Ford L-Series trucks are a range of heavy-duty trucks built by Ford Motor Company between 1970 and 1998. The first dedicated Class 8 truck produced by the company, the L-Series range replaced the N-Series short conventional (derived from the F-Series). The Ford L-Series was introduced in the market as a substitute to other truck models including similar makes from Mercedes Benz and Volvo. These trucks were strong and powerful making them suitable for heavy commercial works. Due to the 1996 sale of the Ford heavy-truck line, the L-Series was discontinued, although the vehicles themselves would be produced until 2009 by Freightliner under the Sterling brand name.
